A Trip to Memphis

I was in Memphis back in late July for my 20 year high school reunion and Allison and I took a day to visit Mud Island and The Civil Rights Museum. Both we fun and educational but it was a very hot day. Needless to say, we were thankful for air conditioning at the end of the day.

Thanksgiving 2010

This year we went to Memphis to spend Thanksgiving with our families. Bobbie is 93 and I know my time with her is becoming quite limited, so I spent the bulk of my time with her. We were blessed to have many friends and family join us to spend this holiday together and to help us make lasting and unforgetiable memories.

Hermit Crabs

One of Allison’s Hermit Crabs molted today. At first she thought the thing was dead but as she was looking at it, it threw out the outer shell… pretty strange stuff. Allison just kept saying, ewe! :-)

Some Time At The Beach

This Mother’s Day (05-10-09), Stephanie and I took the girls to Indian Harbour Beach in Indian Harbour, FL to spend time with my Aunt Renelle and Uncle John among other things (see previous post). After a fabulous Steak and Potato lunch, we stopped by the beach for a quick dip in the Atlantic Ocean. The weather was perfect (at a balmy 95 degrees) and the water was wonderful. The girls really enjoyed their time there. A big “thank you” to my aunt and uncle for having us over and feeding us so well. We wish we could have spent more time with you.

Just For Kix 2008 Winter Show

Allison and Kortney danced in the Just For Kix 2008 Winter Show. This is Kortney’s second year and Allison’s first. They both did really well and had a fun time doing it.

Halloween 2008

Here are some pictures of the girls and their friends from Halloween. It was actually warm enough that they didn’t have to wear their snowsuits (or even jackets) under their costumes. The last time we had a warm halloween like this was 1998… it must only happen once every decade.

NWA's 2008 Tech Ops Family Day

Northwest held their annual Tech Ops Family Day event today at MSPC Hangar 5. This is an awesome event and I wish it were open to everyone, including the public. Not only do they give families the opportunity to play games, win prizes and tour aircraft, they also do a really good job of educating everyone about the costs it takes to maintain our fleet of aircraft. As an example, half of 1 thrust reverser for an Airbus A-319/320 costs ~$200k. They also demonstrated how NWA saves money by fabricating parts at a portion of the cost it would take to purchase them from the manufacturer. It’s all very interesting and enlightening to say the least. Another interesting sight was a new Delta Air lines 737 brought in specifically for this event. It’s really fun to see how differently Delta has invested in their fleet versus that of Northwest Airlines. Click the picture below to view all the photos from the event.
